The ShoreTel VoIP system is a completely distributed, modular voice communications solution layered on top of your existing IP network. At its heart is a standards-based architecture that distributes call control intelligence to voice switches connected anywhere on the IP network, and distributes voice applications — including voicemail and automated attendant — to servers across locations.

The result is a single-image system for all locations and all voice applications. In place of the multiple PBXs, voicemail systems, automated attendants, and ACD systems painfully familiar to users and administrators of traditional enterprise phone systems — all with their multiple management interfaces — the ShoreTel system is distributed, the voice applications are bundled, and the management interface is integrated.

• The Personal Call Manager includes personal productivity software integrating voicemail, calendar, and database contacts with Microsoft Outlook, and providing each user with a simple, yet powerful Windows interface to all call handling functions.
   
• The Operator Call Manager incorporates information and control features enabling company operators, executive administrators, and departmental receptionists to give callers high-touch, personalized attention — easily and cost-effectively.
   
• ShoreWare Director is a browser-based network management tool with a single interface for all voice applications across all locations. Each new user added gets an extension, a mailbox, an auto-attendant profile, and an email enabling them to download their desktop software — all delivered from a single management screen.
