Burlingame, CA (PRWEB) May 01, 2013
Xtelesis Corporation and Multapplied Networks today announced a partnership to bring Bonded Internet™ to customers in the San Francisco Bay area. The partnership allows Xtelesis to expand its VoIP and voice-related solutions to the outlying and smaller SMB market regardless of network access technology.

Multapplied Networks' Vice-President of Global Sales Jake McGuire is equally thrilled with the potential. "On top of just autonomous bonding, Bonded Internet's built-in Quality of Service engine will ensure that Xtelesis's customers are getting the full benefit of their voice services."

Here at Xtelesis, we realized the need for “Unified Communications”, commonly called “UC” back in the year 2000. We had spent the first three years of the company’s history building and managing network infrastructure and customers were just starting to see the benefit of converging their voice onto their data networks in an effort to streamline communications and accelerate the ROI of the data infrastructure. Our credo has always been “easy to use, easy to implement and easy to manage” when looking for new products. Xtelesis has always focused on customers in the 20-5,000 user range. Those customers generally deal with less in terms of IT budgets and personnel. With that in mind, we did an exhaustive review of the IP based voice products in the market. We decided that the ShoreTel system was the right choice for our customer base. Being a Cisco WAN/LAN security reseller, we took a hard look at Cisco’s IP Telephony product but found it too complex, too costly (although nicely featured) for us and our customer base. We looked at Avaya and found a company deep in it’s own history of TDM with no real path to IP and a company that had one set of products for the small business and another completely different set for larger organizations. Too complex, too time consuming. We looked at Mitel, Nortel (they were still around back then) and Siemens. None of them had a single product that scaled both up and down, had a full feature set, was competitively priced and was EASY! So, we signed on as one of ShoreTel’s first resellers, back in 2002.
So, what is Unified Communications?
WikiPedia defines it as “the integration of real-time communication services such as instant messaging (chat), presence information, telephony (including IP telephony), video conferencing, data sharing (including web connected electronic whiteboards aka IWB’s or Interactive White Boards), call control and speech recognition with non-real time communication services such as unified messaging (integrated voicemail, e-mail, SMS and fax)”. Some define it as integrating your communications with your business processes. Whatever definition you like, the one key that we’ve found to making UC live up to the hoopla is user adoption. The absolute best technologies get wasted when the end user doesn’t know how to use them and just gives up. With that in mind, ShoreTel devised the easiest to use and perhaps most used desktop communications control software in the industry. Called “Communicator”, this piece of software allows a user to easily control how they interact with their communications. Do you want to IM, click this button; make a call? It’s as easy as typing someone’s name and hitting ‘enter’; video call? That’s easy too. Due to its ease of installation and ease of use, it consistently ranks as the “most used” UC desktop software and that is what drives overall satisfaction with any technology implementation.
But (there’s always a but), desktop and use adoption of a system isn’t everything. If the system itself isn’t built to be reliable, redundant and scalable, it isn’t of much use to anyone. That’s why we love ShoreTel’s “Brilliantly Simple” architecture. Whether your company has 1 site or 200 sites or more and 10 people or 20,000 people, ShoreTel is designed to be a single image communications system managed through a single, easy to navigate web interface. Remote sites and remote workers add quickly and easily, so much so that much of the day to day MAC’s (moves, adds and changes) can be done by just about anyone in the organization, severely lowing the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) as you don’t have to invest in high priced administrators to manage your communications.
To summarize, we here at Xtelesis specialize in building Unified Communications networks and we chose ShoreTel.
• It’s reliable.
• It’s scalable.
• It’s easy to use.
• It’s easy to manage.
Give us a call or hit the ‘contact’ us button anywhere in the magazine to have us show you why thousands of customers worldwide have chosen ShoreTel, too.

Telemedicine is becoming more integral in the healthcare industry day by day, and has even been lauded as a potential savior for those living in isolated communities and remote regions. The high cost and poor quality of older videoconferencing systems has limited benefits.
The end user experience for HD videoconferencing has improved as much as the quality of the images – long gone are the days of grainy, low quality telemedicine video conferencing! Xtelesis offers a wide variety of reasonably-priced telemedicine solutions from LifeSize and Vidyo that offer a higher definition picture to ensure accurate assessment and diagnosis.
Extending the benefits of telemedicine services
With the HD telemedicine applications from Xtelesis, doctors can view and diagnose patients “in person” from thousands of miles away. This allows doctors to easily access patients in hard-to-reach places, including rural or isolated areas, prisons and larger areas with a shortage of specialists.
Serve a much broader range of patients, provide real-time diagnoses when timing is critical, and reduce costly and inconvenient transfers and travel.
With a great return on investment, high-definition quality, increased collaboration, and telemedicine video systems for any situation, Xtelesis telemedicine applications can help with:
- Remote patient diagnostics
- Remote consultations: physician-specialist
- Remote surgical consult
- Tele-home care and home health care
- Speech and Language Thereapy
- Behavioral health
- Much more
Vidyo powers REACH Healthcare Platform

With the rapid progression of mobile technology, the time is fast approaching where desk phones will be replaced by smart phones that extend core PBX functions and additional calling features. In fact, many companies have already begun this process, by eliminating the office phones of their “Road Warriors”. In doing so, they improve the reachability for these employees, who work remotely and place and receive the majority of their calls from their smart phone.
In fact, many companies have already begun this process, by eliminating the office phones of their “Road Warriors” and loading their mobile devices with a low cost mobile unified communications application like ShoreTel Mobility. In doing so, the benefits are twofold: They improve the reachability for these employees, who place and receive the majority of their calls from their smart phone….and reduce their annual support cost by removing the seldom used physical desk phone from the equation.
One such application, which is vendor neutral and available through ShoreTel, not only converts most smart phones into portable Desk Phones, it also enables users to place and receive calls over WiFi to reduce minutes usage, avoid costly Roaming charges and provide coverage in areas where cellular is unavailable. A one-time license fee of $150 for this app makes it a great investment.
Aptly named “ShoreTel Mobility”, this solution is technically superior to other Mobile UC apps in virtually all areas and extremely user friendly to support a smooth transition for users.

It’s a been a few months since our last blog post, mostly because the end of summer is a very busy time for us, vacationing and whatnot. As a small business owner, I never really get to be completely off the grid, nor would I be able to relax if I were. There is always a customer issue to be handled or a pricing decision to be made and while most of these can be handled by my executive team, occasionally something pops up that I need to voice an opinion about. And what I truly love is to be able to use the technology that we sell to quickly voice my opinions and get feedback from the other members of my team.
Just recently, such an issue came up. I was technically “on vacation”, but an issue came up that I needed to be involved with. While on a wifi network built on a 4G MiFi device with Sprint on my MacBook Air, I was able to establish a 6 way video conference with my executive team in a matter of minutes. I sent out a quick email to the team asking them to join my "room" and minutes later, we were all there hashing out the issue. No fumbling with technology, just a quick, real time, ad hoc meeting to get opinions heard and decisions made, all while looking each member of my team in the eyes. Technology really can make you more productive and I love it when it does!

Telecommuting is on the rise – and for good reason. Working flexibly from a home office has big benefits to employees, employers and the environment. For employees, it results in savings in expenses related to commuting such as gasoline and car maintenance, but perhaps more important, it can mean a better work-life balance, less stress and more job satisfaction. With less staff on-site, employers will save on office space, electricity and other office-related expenses and are likely to experience an improvement in productivity due to the higher employee morale of those with flexible work schedules. In a 2012 study, 83% of the 1,074 respondents said they work remotely at least part of the day, and 89% consider working remotely one of the three main perks to the job (along with salary and reputation). Further statistics reveal that 43% of all U.S. workers will be telecommuting by 2016.
And, don’t forget the benefits that telecommuting has on the environment in terms of reduced emissions (fewer cars are on the road) and power savings that result from lower electricity usage.Environmental research shows that if the 41 million Americans with telework-compatible jobs worked from home just one day a week, this would eliminate an estimated 423,000 tons of greenhouse gas, equating to taking 77,000 cars off the road for a year!Governments around the world are beginning to mandate environmental policies to help the world become more ‘green,’ so companies that implement a telecommuter strategy will be ahead of the game.
Today’s IP technologies make it easy to implement atelecommuter or teleworkerstrategy for your business, and Xtelesis partners with a number of vendors to offer you a complete solution. If you are thinking about allowing some of your employees to telecommute, the ShoreTel IP PBX has built-in ‘office anywhere’functionality that enables one phone number and one voicemail account regardless of the device used - desk phone, cell phone or home phone. Users can assign an extension and profile to another phone (including an external phone) so that Caller ID information displays the employee's office number. ShoreTel also offers license-activated ShoreTel Communicator client applications that are easily installed on PCs or mobile devices, including a ‘personal’ version at no extra cost, a ‘professional’ version with advanced features like IM, softphone and video and ‘mobile’ clients for access to PBX features from BlackBerry, Nokia, Motorola, Windows Mobile or Apple iPhone devices.
Even more advancedmobility is available with ShoreTel Mobility, an integrated WiFi-cellular solution that extends office phone functionality to a smartphone or tablet device, but also addresses important business challenges in terms of security, cost and coverage. For collaborative needs, consider face-to-face communications with Vidyo or LifeSize video conferencing solutions. Xtelesis can help you combine a video endpoint with your PC monitor to optimize the space on your desk.
It’s hard to argue with compelling statistics that show the benefits of telecommuting to employees, employers and the environment. Contact Xtelesis today about deploying a mobility solution from ShoreTel and/or a video solution from Vidyo or LifeSize to add flexibility to your organization, allowing your employees to work remotely as needed. You will experience huge benefits to your overall organization that will ultimately boost customer service and your bottom line.

In today’s fast-paced, challenging business environment, customer service is the big differentiator. There is no room for error or delays, and every interaction counts. Missing important phones calls, e-mails and texts could mean losing business to a competitor.
The requirement to be ‘always on’ has escalated employee productivity to an all-time high, and multi-tasking is now the norm. Today, a single employee is handlingmultiplejob functions as companies struggle to do more with less and stay competitive.More workers than ever are on-the-go, trying to maximize time and juggle multiple tasks, andmobile technologyis quickly becoming a‘must-have.’By using the same mobile device as both their personal phone and their business telephone, workers never miss an important call and are able to collaborate with colleagues and customers quickly and efficiently – an obvious advantage for any business.
Consider the benefits to a company’s competitive edge when a mobile solution is in place.
- Better customer service – respond to customer inquiries in a timely fashion
- Improved employee productivity – stay connected to office applications using a smartphone or tablet
- Faster internal communications – collaborate in real-timeto make decisions quickly
- Work/life balance – flexibility and personal freedommeans job satisfaction
Do you want to improve your ability to compete? A 2011 mobile workforce study revealed that the average mobile employeeworks 240 hours a year morethan an in-office worker. Mobile workers are highly responsive andreadily engaged even outside of the traditional office hours. Smartphones and tablets are allowing workers to stay in touch with colleagues, make important decisions on the fly, resolve issuesin real-time, and ultimately to provide the highest level of customer service. A mobile solution is no longer just an enhancementto consider down the road, but a key technology to implement right now!
Of course, deploying mobile technology introduces security, integration and manageability challenges that require expertise in several areas. Xtelesis can help as it has developed a dedicated enterprise mobility practice called Mobility 360, partnering with several industry leaders, including ShoreTel for its mobile device integration solution, MobileIron for mobile device management and Vidyo for HD telepresence and a face-to-face video experience with colleagues and customers located miles away, across the country or around the world.
ShoreTel Mobility is already deployed in hundreds of businesses that want to give their employees the convenience of using a popular mobile device as their business telephone. Users can access enterprise calling features, and the mobile device will display the Caller ID name and number of the user’s office extension when the user places a call. At the same time, ShoreTel Mobility addresses important business challenges in terms of security, cost and coverage by supporting authentication and encryption, least cost routing and automatic WiFi-to-cellular call hand-off as a user moves in and out of the building.
